Dr Ed Pickering of the University of Manchester, has been awarded the Grunfeld Memorial Award & Medal at the IOM3 2021 Awards.

Ed is a Senior Lecturer in Metallurgy and a Co-Investigator in the SINDRI programme. He specialises in the characterisation of phase transformations and processing-microstructure-property relationships in steels. Much of his work concerns alloys and processes used for nuclear fission and fusion power plant components.

Grunfeld Memorial Award & Medal

The IOM3 Grunfeld Memorial Award & Medal is presented in recognition of professional contribution by an individual in early to mid-career stage, that has had significant influence on the engineering application of components made from any alloys in the metallurgical industries.
